It may be about who owns the customer relationship and controls how these networks work together.

The larger issue is this.. As these networks evolve to be more than just transport, but rather critical infrastructure, the physical infrastructure (i.e. underlying fiber networks) needs to be physically monitored and protected against tampering and malicious or accidental damage.

My Take: Workplaces and schools are still arguing about basic AI guardrails, and meanwhile it's already inside bedtime routines and family arguments with zero oversight at all. The unit of impact here is the whole household, not the individual user, and nobody's built policy for that yet.

My Take: The privacy tradeoff in age verification is the part every ban debate skips past. You can't enforce a social media ban for kids without building an identity-checking system that also ends up affecting everyone else who wants to use the platform anonymously.

My Take: Forty percent of Americans are wearing a device that tracks their heart rate, sleep, and location, and most of those companies won't even tell you how often police ask for that data.

My Take: This is a pretty funny and interesting read.
Private Claude Chats Exposed in Google and Bing Search Results, shared Claude conversations and Artifacts were found indexed in Google and Bing search results over the weekend of July 25 because the share pages lacked a noindex tag, exposing chats that included erotica, legal questions, and a crypto wallet key, before Anthropic added the missing tag.
My Take: There’s a discussion to be had around technical consent and informed consent.
Killer Whales Sink Another Boat Off the Coast of Spain, Why Are They Still Doing This After 6 Years?, a pod of Iberian orcas sank another sailboat off Galicia, the latest in more than 700 documented interactions since 2020, with researchers now leaning toward the behaviour being social play spreading through the small, endangered subpopulation rather than deliberate revenge.
My Take: Six years and 700 interactions in, and the leading theory has shifted from vengeful orcas to bored teenage orcas who started a fad. Watch for it on TikTok.

David Koepp's comedy arrived quietly and will keep finding people for decades, one insomniac cable-flip at a time. Ricky Gervais plays Bertram Pincus, a Manhattan dentist whose contempt for humanity is so complete it registers as a lifestyle choice. Seven minutes of death during a routine colonoscopy leave him able to see the city's ghosts, chief among them Greg Kinnear's smooth, unfinished Frank, who wants his widow steered away from the wrong man.
Gervais does something remarkable here: he lets the armour come off in increments so small you only notice afterward. Téa Leoni meets him with a warmth that makes the whole thing land. Kristen Wiig's surgeon, evading liability in real time, remains one of the decade's great deadpan cameos.
It grossed almost nothing. It will be a word-of-mouth staple long after louder films from that year evaporate. Watch it on a rainy afternoon.
